MMA Projects has meticulously shaped the grand common areas, blending drama with intimacy. Their vision extends across the soaring 19-metre-high main lobby, service areas, elevator lobbies, dining spaces, a refined tea room, and wellness facilities including the pool, gym, and spa. De.Tales, in contrast, has curated the private domains—guest rooms, residences, the Presidential Suite, Executive Lounge, guest corridors, and dedicated elevator spaces.
The main lobby serves as an awe-inspiring centrepiece, where monumental scale meets human-centred design. Bronze panels, both solid and perforated, create a mesmerising interplay of light and shadow, guiding guests through a tranquil water feature towards a sculptural stone reception desk. The journey culminates in a sunken piano bar – an intimate sanctuary within the grandeur
The pool area is a poetic interpretation of “slow flow”, featuring undulating wooden slats that hover above the water, while perforated travertine partitions filter light into soft, ever-changing patterns. This meticulous attention to materiality extends into the Chinese restaurant, where private dining areas echo the smooth, rounded forms of river pebbles. In the main dining hall, illuminated ceiling structures cast a warm glow over marble-clad tables, elevating the gastronomic experience.
De.Tales’ approach to the private spaces revolves around adaptability and understated elegance. Guest rooms are designed to intuitively cater to contemporary travellers – seamlessly shifting between relaxation, productivity, and social engagement. Open-plan layouts, natural materials, and soft contours create a harmonious rhythm that enhances both comfort and functionality.
The Presidential Suite is a masterclass in grandeur, with expansive living areas, bespoke finishes, and breathtaking views of Dishui Lake. Meanwhile, the Executive Lounge offers a refined sanctuary where fluid lines and adaptable configurations support both work and leisure. “Our vision for the Radisson Collection Lingang Shanghai is built around permeability and fluidity, shaping spaces that elevate the art of travel”, explain Igor Rebosio and Giuseppe Varsavia, Design Director and Managing Director of De.Tales.
Beyond its interiors, the hotel draws inspiration from the city’s natural and architectural landscape. The design language mirrors the ripples created by a droplet hitting the surface of the water – a motif that extends from the lakefront promenade through the commercial district and into the verdant circular city park, effortlessly integrating the hotel into its urban surroundings. Natural materials such as bronze, wood, and exquisite stone are juxtaposed with avant-garde design elements, creating a timeless aesthetic. Light is a defining feature, with bespoke installations that resemble floating luminous clouds, infusing triple-height spaces with an ethereal glow.
The Radisson Collection Lingang Shanghai is more than a luxury destination – it is a journey through crafted environments that celebrate cultural synergy, design mastery, and the pursuit of refined living. A true testament to the power of collaboration, De.Tales and MMA Projects have redefined hospitality through a symphony of design, offering an experience that lingers long after check-out.
