Set against the vibrant backdrop of Hong Kong’s Central district, Cristal Room by Anne-Sophie Pic at Forty-Five is a masterpiece of French gastronomy, crystal artistry, and architectural innovation. Designed by the Paris-based architecture and interior design studio Gilles et Boissier, the space reflects Anne-Sophie Pic’s philosophy of imprégnation, which Dorothée Boissier – Co-Founder of Gilles & Boissier – describes as “the interaction and balance between flavours.” Inspired by this culinary concept, the studio orchestrated a harmonious interplay of light and materials, where reflections in crystal merge seamlessly with the organic textures of marble and wood, creating a sensory and immersive experience akin to Pic’s culinary artistry.

The design masterfully balances the opulence of Baccarat crystal with an intimate atmosphere. At the entrance, a Baccarat “Zenith” half-lustre, encased in mirrors, creates the illusion of a complete chandelier “immersed in a world of fire”, symbolising the origins of crystal. Inside, Frozen marble sideboards subtly define table spaces, while smoked oak beams and soft-hued carpets evoke warmth. Niches adorned with Baccarat treasures punctuate the room, ensuring that crystal enhances rather than overwhelms the ambiance.

Dorothée Boissier highlights subtle design elements that elevate the experience: mirrored ceilings and Baccarat crystal tiles create a dynamic sense of depth, while lighting transitions from day to night redefine the space. By day, the restaurant frames views of Victoria Harbour; by night, the glow of crystal transforms it into an intimate haven, offering a perfect balance of design, emotion, and the French art de vivre.

In the heart of historic Milan, the new Beefbar Milan has transformed the chapel of the Former Archiepiscopal Seminary into a masterpiece of design and gastronomy. Conceived by acclaimed architects Emil Humbert and Christophe Poyet, the space pays homage to Milanese style from the 1940s and 1960s while respecting the chapel’s rich architectural heritage. Beneath soaring vaults, the restaurant, open kitchen, and bar are unified by a striking terrazzo floor in shades of green, black, white, and burgundy, featuring wave patterns inspired by Luigi Caccia Dominioni. Dark walnut wood panelling evokes the warmth of classic Milanese cafés, enhanced by triptych sconces by Ignazio Gardella and an eclectic mix of artworks.

The furnishings combine elegance and functionality, with Verde Alpi marble tables, Vico Magistretti chairs, and Asterios lamps in bronze and frosted glass, designed by Humbert & Poyet. Located near Piazza San Babila, this unique venue encapsulates Milan’s flair for opera, fashion, and design, blending sensuality and relaxed Italian spirit. Founded in 2005 by Riccardo Giraudi, Beefbar is internationally celebrated for exceptional meats served in stunning settings, each reflecting its locale. With Beefbar Milan, Humbert and Poyet deliver a space that harmonises tradition and contemporary design, showcasing their signature refined style.

Located in the central area of Hangzhou, China, GUD Restaurant & Cocktail Bar breathes new life into a 1930s heritage villa, blending rich history with contemporary design. Crafted by STUDIO8, this hotpot restaurant and craft cocktail venue is a celebration of both culinary art and architectural innovation. The villa, once overtaken by urban sprawl, has been meticulously restored, preserving its original façade while adapting to modern functionality.

GUD’s design draws inspiration from the fundamental elements of hotpot cuisine: heat, water, and steam. The ground floor channels “heat,” with vivid red floors, a dramatic fireplace stretching to the ceiling, and bold textures fostering a lively and sociable atmosphere. On the second floor, “water” takes centre stage, symbolising unity as diners gather around circular tables surrounded by glass brick niches, resin accents, and preserved historic details. The journey culminates on the third floor and terrace, embodying “steam” and the elevation of flavour, where guests enjoy a VIP dining experience paired with panoramic city views in minimalist yet striking geometric spaces.

Through innovative features like mirrored ceilings, U-shaped glass staircases, and copper accents, STUDIO8 has harmonised heritage and modernity. GUD offers a vivid, immersive experience that celebrates the essence of hotpot and the enduring spirit of the villa’s history.

Nestled within the tranquil Ayana Estate in Jimbaran, Bali, the SAKA Museum by Napp Studio & Architects invites visitors on an immersive journey into Balinese Hinduist culture and traditional crafts. Drawing on Bali’s deep connection to nature, the design integrates elements such as the serene night sky of Nyepi, volcanic rocks, water caves, and Indonesia’s jasper and agate, creating a rich architectural tapestry. Rooted in the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana – harmony between God, nature, and humanity – the space reinterprets traditional motifs through a contemporary lens, crafting an experience both timeless and reflective.

A key highlight is the SAKA Café, seamlessly integrated into the museum’s narrative. Offering a serene retreat, it features pebble-shaped seating inspired by meditative stone stacking, created from local aggregates and cast in GRC. Open daily, the café invites guests to relax with artisanal beverages like passionfruit iced tea or Frappuccino coffee, enjoying a tranquil ambiance that mirrors the museum's meditative essence.

Elsewhere, the museum’s entrance gallery evokes Nyepi’s sacred night sky, with a pitch-black ceiling punctuated by 3,000 mini-LEDs that transform into a celestial spectacle at dusk. The shop, adorned with moss agate tones, and features like a spiral ramp echoing Bali’s water caves, further enrich the experience. By blending local craftsmanship and natural materials, the SAKA Museum and Café serve as a sanctuary of Balinese heritage, bridging tradition and modernity.
